Sometimes More is More

My mother-in-law hasn't felt much like decorating for Christmas, but is hosting a Christmas party this weekend, so Jon took Rudolph's reins and dove in head first to all the boxes tucked away in the garage. He came out covered head to toe in garland, twinkle lights, and ornaments of old and I had images of Scrooge McDuck diving into his sea of coinage. As he buzzed around the house singing Christmas tunes, he sprinkled tacky Christmas decor over every surface, much the way a cake is laden with too-sweet icing. As his mom and I sat back in wonder at his merriment she said to me, "Oh, I can see that Jon's Philippino blood comes out at Christmas." Four Christmas trees later, I can see it now, too. I love my festive husband.

How fun! I love Christmas decorations. How did he have the energy to put up so many trees?

Philippino...it's 'cause he doesn't know when to stop with the knick knacks...tacky, kitchy. When doesn't this get offensive to Philippinos? Jon's grandma was straight from the Philippines and her house was filled to the brim with QVC goodies.
