Disquiet and Unrest: Anticipating Four New Walls
We are still patiently awaiting the closing of our potential first home, and I must say, I am full of every shade of anticipation.
On September 11, 2009 we signed documents for one of nearly 40 offers on homes in San Diego county. On January 22, 2010 (more than 4 months later) our offer was approved. Time for celebration? Not so fast.
Short sales are not short. Did you know that? A short sale simply means, as I understand it, that the value of a home for sale is less than what is owed on the mortgage. Short sales are, on the contrary, often long and drawn out processes in which no one is making the owner (bank) move any faster than they want to.
We have been living with the in-laws (in their new, giant digs...a mansion of sorts, but 1 hour from our work and lives in Oceanside) for 13 months and are more than ready to have a place of our own.
This week:
1. Attempt #2 at home inspection, hopefully said owner will have turned on the gas and electric so aforementioned inspection can actually be completed before we drive an hour and are canceled upon.
2. Relearn that patience is a virtue and no amount of yelling at my own realtor will get anything accomplished any faster.
3. Continue to swoon every time my husband kisses me.
